The Faculty of General Dental Practice UK (FGDP(UK)) support the British Orthodontic Society’s ‘Hold that Smile’ campaign, which encourages patients to wear their orthodontic retainers for life.
Research has shown that 70% of patients who only wear their retainers for one or two years after orthodontic treatment needed re-treatment ten years later. This shows that retainers are just as important as the braces that straightened your teeth, and if you don’t wear your retainers as advised it is likely your teeth will move.
