A New Chapter for St.James Dental

Dear Patients and Friends,

If you’ve visited St.James Dental recently, you may have noticed that we’ve been rather busy! At times, the practice has felt a little like a building site, so we wanted to share what we’ve been working on – and, most importantly, thank you for your patience while we create some exciting new spaces for our patients and team.

A few growing pains!

Our new extension brought with it what we can only describe as a few “teething problems” – oh, the irony!

Getting everything resolved took considerable time and effort, but we’re delighted to say we’re now there. In August, we also began a smaller project to install a new electrical hub at the rear of the building. This will modernise and simplify our electrical systems and, wherever possible, we’ll keep any disruption to an absolute minimum.

Our surgeries are being transformed

For more than 30 years, we’ve worked closely with one of the UK’s leading dental surgery designers. Their expertise has helped us create spaces that are not only beautiful, but also practical, comfortable and equipped to provide the very best patient care. Chavdar’s surgery was the first to be completely refurbished and has set the standard for the projects that follow.

Both of our upstairs hygienist surgeries have now been upgraded with the latest equipment. Our downstairs hygienist surgery has also had a complete transformation – taken right back to the plaster and reimagined as a bright, contemporary space. Georgina’s surgery is now complete, and Chris Bell’s surgery is having its makeover during September.

A calmer space for our younger patients

We realised that our children’s playroom wasn’t being used quite as much as we had hoped and, on occasions, it could become a little lively! So we’ve given the space a new purpose and created a dedicated children’s waiting area for young patients and their parents – a calmer and more comfortable environment for everyone.

Behind the scenes

Of course, great patient care also depends on having a happy, well-equipped and well-supported team. We’ve therefore been making improvements behind the scenes too, including upgrading our main administration office, creating a new staff coffee station and adding a dedicated sterilisation room for our hygienists.

The finishing touches

And then there are the details that make St.James Dental feel like St.James Dental All of our interior design and artwork choices are made personally by our founders, David and Lynn Mathewson, who take enormous care over every detail. You may already have spotted some of the new artwork and finishing touches around the practice. But keep looking – there’s plenty more to come!
